A virtual tabletop role playing game platform startup that was, at the time, in closed beta.

Sign-up Flow
.The OMM platform during it’s closed beta phase had a process where players could find games run by approved OMM gms, join them, and gain access to the full OMM platform.
The objective of this project was to improve usability to maximize the number of people who join the server and play a game to gain access to the closed beta.
Role
UX Researcher and Designer
Contract solo UX position.
Planned and executed qualitative and quantitative user research including surveys, moderated and unmoderated usability testing.
User flows, personas, and software UX with a focus onboarding and tutorials.
Process
Scope: Set the schedule for the 2 week timeline.
Discover: Determine hypothesis, design user flows, and recruit participants.
Analyze: Synthesize findings, determine drop off points and identify opportunities for change.
Develop: Ideate potential solutions and create wireframes.
Deliver: Presentation deliverable.
Discover
The user research phase.
Plan Usability Test
Email surveys were used to recruit a group of participants unfamiliar with One More Multiverse but interested in TTRPGs.
Run Usability Test
Ask users to complete a series of tasks including:
Opening the company website.
Signing up for the closed beta.
Joining the discord server.
Sign up to participate in a game on the platform.
Synthesize Results
Using the playtest data synthesize the findings into deliverables, including, personas, user flows, and an empathy map.
Identify what areas were simple and which were difficult or time consuming.
Empathy Map
This empathy map was created using an aggregate of play test data to illustrate what users thinking and feeling as they attempt to sign-up for a game using One More Multiverse’s beta scheduling system.
Analyze
After synthesizing the data identify the most significant and actionable user pain points.
Call to Action Clarity
The call to action is unclear, users did not know about the connection between signing up for the discord and gaining access to the beta.
On-boarding Clarity
Users were unsure how to sign up on discord via emojis.Many users ran into an issue where they were signed into discord on their app but not in their web browser and when the link opened up to a web page this prevented them from seeing the join games option.
On-boarding Time
The process between getting onto the discord to signing up to play a game on OMM took over 15 minutes for players to figure out and complete.
Develop
Ideate simple and actionable UX improvements.
Website: Homepage
Clarify call to action on homepage so users can more easily find out how to join so they can play games.
Discord
Add pinned post describing what emojis to use to sign up.
Add a link to the game verse in the Multiverse Bot personal “game starting now” reminder message.
Website: Calendar
Add a sign in to discord option on the calendar page to clarify how to join games.
Sort calendar so that upcoming games show up first, past games afterwards.
Add an option to sort/filter by game system and/or new vs experienced play.
Deliver
A clickable high fidelity prototype of the new and improved user flow.
